This is not a catalogue of every beach in Rijeka and Kvarner, but my personal selection of a few beaches I know from my own experience — each for a different kind of day by the sea.

Rijeka beaches — overview

The map shows the location of Rijeka's beaches from Preluk in the west to Pećine in the east. It is intended for general orientation; access, facilities and transport details are checked on the individual pages.

🚌 By bus: Line 1 connects Pećine and Bivio and follows Rijeka's coast. For Kantrida, Morski prasac, Ploče and ZTC, board at Fiumara A on the opposite side of the road from the Sablićevo stop, towards Bivio. Fiumara B is by Mrtvi kanal, a blind harbour channel with small boats, and serves Sablićevo and Tower Center towards Pećine. Journey times are approximate and depend on traffic, the timetable and waiting for the bus. Suburban line 10 serves Kostrena; the official Autotrolej timetable is published in the 10/10a group. Check the current timetable and the stop for your chosen beach before departure.

Rijeka · first choice

Sablićevo

  • About 20–30 min on foot each way
  • Pebble beach
  • Rocky cove
  • Views towards Učka and Opatija
  • No natural shade

My main city choice and a beach I know well from personal experience. For the bus, board at Fiumara B on the Mrtvi kanal side, towards Pećine and Tower Center.

Morski prasac

  • About 10–15 min by car from InCenter to the beach approach
  • Bus 1 + walking: about 20–30 min · allow extra waiting time
  • Pebble beach
  • Beach bar Morski prasac

My second Rijeka beach choice: Igralište on Kantrida, by Beach bar Morski prasac. From InCenter, allow about 10–15 min by car to the beach approach or 20–30 min by bus 1 including walking. Board at Fiumara A towards Bivio; allow extra time for waiting and parking.

Combine the beaches of the Crikvenica Riviera with a walk through Jadranovo, Dramalj, Crikvenica and Selce. For a day by the sea, you can choose just one stretch of coast; the full one-way route is described in Day trips.
